Four Weeks In & Already Out In the Field

Hey Father,

First off, send this to everyone because I have a lot to say I think and I do not want to write the same things to everyone. Have them send me letters, my address is: 787 N 1500 W. Clinton Utah...i dont know the zip code so you will have to look it up.

I am not sure where you got Roy from dad, because I am in Clinton which is somewhere near Ogden I think. We cover one stake and WALK everywhere. Yes, it is a walking area, but we get rides quite a bit when we need them. My trainer is Elder Motsamai, and he is from South Africa. I dont know what is up with me and getting all of these international companions, but it is cool. He is a fashion designer and writes music and stuff like that, he is pretty cool. And do you remember The Gods Must Be Crazy? Yeah...he looks like the bushman on their laugh out loud and he knows a little bit of that clicky language. We have good times.

So my first week in the mission has been absolutely amazing. The first day we went to some appointments. One fell through, but we did get into another. We were teaching this 13 year old girl named Sarah. She has learned all the lessons I believe, but we are having trouble getting her to church. Her dad usually isn't interested but last Wednesday he joined in the discussion and said that he would think about the things we said. I am praying that his heart is softened. That is how most of our investigators are, children. And most of those are from part member families that we are trying to get active again. Last Saturday there was a baptism for a nine year old which was pretty cool. His whole family is becoming active which i think is very exciting. Lot of work to do here, but not the kind of work that other missionaries do, thats for sure.

On other news, they are splitting our mission on July 1st. They are taking 40 missionaries from are mission and sending them to Salt Lake mission. I want to stay here. Oh ya i forgot to mention that the first day before I went to my area we tracked a little in the ghetto of Odgen. Some of the people there are kinda crazy. We met this one guy who was saying he knew Mr. Buffet, the richest guy in the world. He was a character, but definitely crazy.

Im not sure what else to include in this email. Please write me individual letters and mail them so that I get them in the middle of the week and I can read them. It is easier to write people that way. I will upload some pictures next week I think. I dont have many, I will try to take some more this week. I love you all and hope that all of you can write me. Im sorry that I couldnt email each of you individually, but I will try to write you all this week if I get time. See you on the other side!

Love,
Elder Connell
